Current Situation & Prospects: Friday, May 16

Weather:

A beautiful day with temperatures up to 20ºC.
The forecast however is for an Atlantic depression moving down from the North & settling over Ireland for much of the coming week. There is rain due for Sunday, Tuesday & then from Thursday to Saturday.

Run of Fish:

Excellent runs of fish going through especially on our upper beats (plenty of fish up to 15-18lb.) but they are not taking anything!

Catches:

Best March since 2006 with nine fish to 12lb. caught.
April 14:  Best Day of Season so far.
4 fish to 14lb. caught - 3 on fly.
Two released on fly on the 14th. May on the upper river & several lost.
One good fish lost after 10 minutes Thursday 16th.

Methods:

In absolutely superb fly order.  Good for all methods with medium-high summer level.

Prospects:

Will depend very much on the rain which is forecast. It looks as if we may have high water in the coming week.
