Current Situation & Prospects: Sunday, May 18



Weather: 

3mm rain here in Ballyduff overnight & just 5mm in Mallow. There is rain due for Tuesday & then from Thursday to Saturday.

   River Height:    

  The graph below shows the height of the river at Millstreet today
 



 Millstreet:  Peaked @ 0.75m @ 19.15. Up 15cm. Falling again.

Killavullen:  1.37m @ 21.15. Rising slightly.

  Ballyduff:   0.45m @ 21.15. Holding.

Colour/Clarity:  

About 4 feet on both the lower & upper river.

 
Temperatures:  

Water @    Ballyduff:    10.5ºC    50.9ºF.
 Water @ Killavullen:    12.7 -  13.3ºC.
     Air @    Ballyduff:    20ºC  @ 16.00  today.

Run of Fish: 

Excellent runs of fish going through especially on our upper beats (plenty of fish up to 15-18lb.) but they are not taking anything!
                        
Catches:  

Best March since 2006 with nine fish to 12lb. caught.
April 14:  Best Day of Season so far.
4 fish to 14lb. caught - 3 on fly.
Two released on fly on the 14th. May on the upper river & several lost.
One good fish lost after 10 minutes Thursday 16th.

Methods:   

In absolutely superb fly order.  Good for all methods with medium-high summer level.

Prospects: 

Will depend very much on the rain which is forecast. It looks as if we may have high water in the coming week.
