Second Best June total since 2003! We have 72 caught for just 170 rod days.


Nine fish caught today for just eight rod days.
Today we flew passed the 100 fish for the season mark – 104 is the total to date.
Conditions.

It was a dry bright day here today.

The upper river at Millstreet & Killavullen (where the gauge is at 1.18m) is holding.
Clarity on the upper river is 6-7 feet.
 

The lower river at Ballyduff is at 0.28m.  Clarity is about 6-7 feet.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 11.1ºC / 52.0ºF.

Catches.

The final total for today was 9 grilse to 7lb. – the Second Best Day of 2015. 3 very fresh fish were caught by mid-day from the upper river in the morning. This evening Kevin Collins (Cork) landed 4 & Kieran Conlon landed two on a micro-tube on the lower river. These 6 were all sea-liced.
We now have 72 fish for the month to date & 104 for the season so far.

Prospects.
Superb for the coming days as more & more fish are running. There was a very good run of fish through our lower beats today. There are also high tides next week peaking at 3.9m from Thursday to Saturday..

Yesterday’s rain had little effect on river but grilse are still coming!

Already the Fourth Best June Total since 2002.


Conditions.
8mm rain overnight. Dry bright day here now.

The upper river at Millstreet & Killavullen is up 1cm at 10.00 this morning.
Clarity on the upper river is 6-7 feet.
 

The lower river at Ballyduff is also up 1cm.  Clarity is about 6-7 feet.

Water temperature at Ballyduff: 11.1ºC / 52.0ºF.

Catches.


The final total for yesterday was 6 grilse – 3 each from the upper & lower river.
Already there are 2 more very fresh grilse reported from up river by 10.00 this morning.
We now have 63 fish for the month to date & 95 for the season so far.

Prospects.
Excellent for the coming days as more & more fish are running. There was a very good run of fish through our lower beats yesterday. There are also high tides next week peaking at 3.9m from Thursday to Saturday..

Grilse run still building & hopefully rain on the way …..

Conditions.
Dry & warm overnight here. Some quite heavy rain forecast for tonight.

The upper river at Millstreet has dropped 2cm since midday yesterday. Killavullen is back down 1cm this morning. Clarity on the upper river is 6-7 feet.
 

The lower river at Ballyduff is holding at 0.27m this evening. Clarity is about 6-7 feet.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 11.0ºC / 51.8ºF & holding.

Catches.

I heard of one angler on a private lower beat who also landed 4 grilse yesterday.
Already by 10.00 this morning we have 2 gleaming grilse for one rod around Castletownroche. I also know of 3 to one rod in 2 hours this morning an private water around Killavullen.
We now have 59 fish for the month to date & 91 for the season so far.

Prospects.
Excellent for the coming days as more fish are running. It’ll be even better if the forecast rain comes as we would then have a flood combining with high tides late next week.

Grilse run building up significantly…..


Conditions.
4mm overnight here & only 3mm in Mallow. A warm bright day today with little wind. Heavy rain forecast for Saturday night.
The upper river at Millstreet rose just 2cm after the overnight rain & is back down 1cm. Killavullen is steady at 1.17. Clarity on the upper river is 6-7 feet.
 

The lower river at Ballyduff is at 0.27m this evening. Clarity is about 6-7 feet.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 11.0ºC / 51.8ºF.

Catches.
 
There were reports of very good runs of grilse through the tidal limit at Lismore yesterday evening & this morning. Two rods fished the afternoon/evening on one of lower beats & landed 5 sea-liced grilse. Another very fresh grilse was caught on one of our upper beats.
We now have 57 fish for the month to date for just 149 rod days, & 89 for the season so far. This makes it the fourth best June total since 2005 already.

Prospects.
Excellent for the coming days as more fish are running. It’ll be even better if the forecast rain comes as we would then have a flood combining with high tides late next week.

Today we caught the 50th. fish for the month…..




Conditions.
Dry overnight & a warm bright day today with no wind. Some light rain forecast for Thursday evening & heavier rain on Saturday night 7 Monday.

The upper river at Millstreet is steady & Killavullen is falling very slowly – down to 1.18m at 21.00. Clarity on the upper river is 6-7 feet.


The lower river at Ballyduff is steady at 0.28m this evening. Clarity is about 6-7 feet.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 10.9ºC / 51.6ºF.

Catches.

Three fish to 8½lb. were caught today, including a First Ever Salmon for Richard Nicolle on his first ever attempt at salmon fishing. More grilse were met on trout flies today!
We now have 50 fish for the month to date for just 130 rod days, & 82 for the season so far.

Prospects.
Continuing good for the coming days as more fish are running.

Yesterday was the Third Best Day of 2015 so far…..


Conditions.
Dry overnight & a warm overcast day today with no wind. Some light rain forecast for Thursday evening & the weekend with heavier rain to follow on Monday.


The upper river at Millstreet rose 3cm peaking at 17.00. It is back down 2cm this morning. Killavullen is also up 2cm to 1.19m yesterday evening & is holding at that level. Clarity on the upper river is 6-7 feet.


The lower river at Ballyduff is steady at 0.28m this evening. Clarity is about 6-7 feet. Water temperature at Ballyduff: 10.8ºC / 51.4ºF & steady.

Catches.

The final tally for yesterday (Monday, June 22) was six fish to 9lb., five of which were released. This made it the Third Best Day of 2015. Two grilse were caught on trout flies on the lower river at 22.30 last night & only reported this morning.
We now have 47 fish for the month to date, & 79 for the season so far.

Prospects.
Excellent for the coming days as the run of fish coming through the lower river is building up. The small fresh on the upper river may also liven up the fish on the upper beats.
