Coloured water hits our top beat!

For the last hour or so, debris has been coming down the river to as far a Killavullen. Just had a report that the clarity has now gone on our very top beat Ballygarrett - just below Mallow.

There was one very fresh 4lb. grilse released there on spinner just before the colour hit.

At Killavullen the river is now up 21cm to 1.40m & is still rising.
At Ballyduff, it rose 7cm to 0.39m & peaked at 11.00 & is now back down 1cm.

Lower river going out of order..............

Millstreet has peaked & is falling again.
Killavullen is up 7cm & still rising slowly. 1.25m at 11.00.
Clarity at Mallow & Killavullen is still 2½-3 feet at 11.00.
Ballyduff is up 7cm to 0.39m at 11.00. Clarity is now poor at Kilmurry due to dirty spate from Araglen. Lower river going out of order.

One fish lost on worms this morning.

Yesterday, there was just one grilse caught on the upper river. It was a first ever on the fly for Seamus Walsh on a single hand rod.

Upper river peaks up 50cm........

The upper river at Millstreet has peaked at 08.00 - up 50cm.

In the lower catchment, the upper Funshion is up 25cm & still rising.
The Araglen close to it's confluence with the Blackwater is also rising
& getting coloured & will affect the main river as the day goes on.
At Ballyduff, the river is just starting to rise & is up 3cm overnight.

The weather forecast for the week is dry.

A flood is on the way!

A band of heavy rain came through last night.
The radar picture shows the tail end passing easterly & just about to leave the catchment at 06.30 today.
I had 9mm rain during the night here at the Lodge.
The river at Millstreet (see graph) is already up 50cm & rising rapidly.
