A good flood on the way after 40mm rain.....................

The radar picture above shows rain still coming into the catchment, but it is now coming down from the north as we are at the tail end of the depression which is moving across the Irish Sea.

40mm rain has fallen by 09.00 here in Ballyduff since 14.00 yesterday.
It is falling all across catchment so it is surprising that the river has not risen higher & faster.

The river is rising at Killavullen upriver as well & the water temperature is down about 1C.
The upper river is very coloured
The Funcheon is high & coloured but the Awbeg & Araglen are high but not so coloured.
Clarity at Ballyduff was 1-1 1/2 feet at 09.00 this morning.

Fish were seen moving through the weir at Fermoy at 06.30 this morning, so we should be in for some excellent sport once the flood subsides.
