The upper river is up over 2 metres (6 feet) since yesterday...

This was the Blackwater @ 19.30 this evening.
Gauge Height 1.35m & rising.

By 22.00, the Ballyduff gauge was up to 1.70m

We haven't had a great deal of rain here since mid-morning, but the back end of the depression which swept across us is now pulling heavy rain down from the North into the upper part of the catchment.

The upper river at Killavullen is rising steadily & rather quickly, and is now over 2 metres higher than it was yesterday afternoon.

The heavy rain in the top of the catchment will push it up even further.

Prospects
If the amount of rain forecast for the upper catchment does fall, the river will be out of order for the weekend.
Once the river does fall, the fishing should be superb as we saw yesterday when 11 fish were caught.

There is no problem for availability of rods/accommodation in the coming weeks.
