The river is in excellent order & fly-fishable throughout.



                  The river at 10.15 this morning. Gauge height:  0.59m
Conditions.
It’s a bright sunny day today with air temperature reaching 13ºC at 10.15. The forecast still remains for dry weather right through to the end of the week with warm days but cool nights due to no cloud cover.


The upper river at Millstreet continues to fall steadily since yesterday morning. Clarity improved during the day from 1½ to 2½ feet by nightfall.

The Killavullen gauge is still currently out of order.

Mallow gauge is dropping away steadily. Clarity at Woodstream is 2½ - 3 feet.


The lower river at Ballyduff is dropping steadily but slowly now this morning. It is down to 0.58m at 10.00 with clarity also 2½ -3 feet.

Water temperature at    Ballyduff: 9.0ºC / 48.2ºF @ 09.00 today.
Water temperature at Killavullen:  7.6 - 8.0 ºC / 45.7 - 46.4ºF @ 09.00.

Tides will be peaking at 3.8m at Youghal today & Monday.

Prospects.
Superb right through the coming week as there is now no rain due and the winds will drop right down. The upper & lower river are both fly fishable today.

The river is starting to fine down after the last rise.





Conditions.
It was a mixed day – sometimes sunny, sometimes overcast with temperatures reaching 16ºC in the late afternoon. The forecast remains for dry weather right through to the end of next week with warm days but cool nights due to no cloud cover.

The upper river at Millstreet continues to fall steadily since yesterday morning. Clarity improved during the day from 1½ to 2½ feet by nightfall.

The Killavullen gauge is still currently out of order. Clarity at Killavullen was barely 1½ feet at 08.00 this morning.

The lower river at Ballyduff rose late yesterday afternoon peaking at 0.89 at 01.00 this morning. By 23.00 this evening it was down to 0.63m with clarity also improving from 1½ to 2½ feet by evening.

Water temperature at    Ballyduff: 8.9ºC / 48.0ºF @ 23.00 today.
Water temperature at Killavullen:  7.6 - 8.0 ºC / 45.7 - 46.4ºF @ 23.00.

Tides will be peaking at 3.8m at Youghal tomorrow & Monday.

Prospects.
Superb right through the coming week as there is now no rain due and the winds will drop right down. The upper & lower river will both be fly fishable tomorrow as the clarity is improving quickly.

The First Fish on Fly of 2015.


Dave Walsh from Mallow landed our first salmon on fly yesterday April 3rd. It was taken on a cone-head Cascade on a super fast sink tip at the Barrels on Bridgetown Priory. It's our 11th. springer so far this season.
Even better was the fact that it was his first ever springer.

The river is coming into cracking order & should be so for the next week at least!



 
Conditions.

It was a dry day here today. The forecast from tomorrow on is for high pressure building from Friday right up to the end of next week with calm conditions & little wind.
Air temperature was +10 ºC at 18.00.


The upper river at Millstreet has been holding steady since 13.00 today.

The latest reading for the level of the middle river at Killavullen (37km upstream of the Lodge) was at 16.00 yesterday due to phone connection problems. At that stage is was down to 1.55m. & falling. This is fair fly height for the upper river . Clarity was 3-4 feet this evening.
 The Fermoy gauge rose 2cm in the morning but was back down 2cm by evening.


The lower river at Ballyduff has risen 2 cm from early morning to late afternoon, but is now dropping once more & was at 0.65m at 21.00. Clarity was about 3-4 feet this evening.

Water temperature at   Ballyduff: 8.9ºC / 48.0ºF @ 21.00 today.
Water temperature at Killavullen:  7.6 - 8.0 ºC / 45.7 - 46.4ºF @ 21.00.

Tides will be peaking at 3.8m at Youghal from Saturday to Monday this coming weekend.


Prospects.
Excellent right through the coming weekend and into next week as there is now very little rain due and the winds will drop. The upper & lower river are fly fishable today The clarity is improving quickly.

The river is coming into cracking order & should be so for the next week at least!


Conditions.
It was a mostly dry but very windy day. The forecast from tomorrow on with just occasional showers for tomorrow & Thursday. High pressure is building from Friday right up to the middle of next week with calm conditions & little wind.
Air temperature was +10 ºC at 18.00.


The upper river at Millstreet rose just 1cm in the early evening due to showers in the upper catchment.


The latest reading for the level of the middle river at Killavullen (37km upstream of the Lodge) was at 15.30 due to phone connection problems. At that stage is was down to 1.55m. & falling. This is fair fly height for the upper river . Clarity was 2½ feet this evening.



The lower river at Ballyduff was down to 1.65m at 21.15 & falling. This means that it will be at good fly height tomorrow. Clarity was about 3 feet this evening.

Water temperature at    Ballyduff: 8.7ºC / 47.6ºF @ 21.00 today.
Water temperature at Killavullen:  7.6 - 8.0 ºC / 45.7 - 46.4ºF @ 21.00.

Tides will be peaking at 3.8m at Youghal from Saturday to Monday this coming weekend.
