Prospects for the Start of the Season............

I now have a growing optimism that conditions may be
favourable for the start of our season on February 1st.
Let's face it - the Gods owe us one (and maybe more) !

This was the river below the Lodge at 09.15 today (21st.)
The Ballyduff gauge was at 1.71m at that time.
Water temperature at Ballyduff:  7.5ºC / 45.5ºF @ 09.15 (21st) & steady.

From the latest peak of 2.14m at 20.00 yesterday evening,
the river dropped overnight to 1.71m at 09.30 today.
Some light rain brought it up again during the day.
It
peaked at 1.77m at 14.30 this afternoon
and is now just starting to fall once again.
Air temperature today (21st) is 7ºC at 16.00.

The weather forecast remains dry up until next Monday, so I would expect that there will be a significant drop by the start of next week,
especially as the temperatures will be low up to Saturday night.
Frost always helps to hold back the water.
From Sunday it looks as if we will have a spell of milder weather.

Millstreet rose 40cm in the night peaking @ 03.00am today. Now falling.

The Ballyduff gauge dropped overnight to 1.71m by 09.30 today.
It then rose again peaking @ 1.77m @ 14.30 & is just falling once more.
