Fourth Best Day of the Season – 13 fish caught!

Conditions.

The weather will stay dry for the last day of the season tomorrow. 

The upper river at Millstreet continues to drop steadily. 

The Killavullen gauge is also falling slowly & steadily to 1.27m at 20.00.  Clarity ~5 feet.


The Ballyduff gauge is down to 0.39 at 20.00. Clarity ~5 feet.

Water temperature at Ballyduff: 12.4ºC / 54.3ºF.

Catches.

Fourth Best day of the Season today with thirteen fish landed. Five came from the lower river & eight from the upper beats. The total for September is now 119 & 487 for the season to date.

Prospects.
The river conditions remain absolutely perfect & fish are coming on the take gradually. Tides are just past their peak & will be 4.1m tomorrow. Prospects of sport for the last day should be good.

The river is in perfect order & Second Best Fish of Season landed…….

  The Second Biggest Fish of the Season was landed today 

by Gary Lamont (N. Ireland) at Carrahulta on Carrig & safely released. 

     The river in absolutely perfect fettle for the last 2 days of the season.

Conditions.

The weather is dry & will stay so until the end of the season on Wednesday.

The upper river at Millstreet continues to drop steadily.

The Killavullen gauge is also falling slowly & steadily to 1.29m at 22.00. Clarity ~5 feet.

The Ballyduff gauge is down to 0.41 at 22.00. Clarity ~5 feet.

Water temperature at Ballyduff: 12.3ºC / 54.1ºF.

Catches.

Today we passed the 100 fish for the month. Seven fish to 15lb. landed today. Total for September is now 106 & 474 for the season to date.


Prospects.
The river conditions are absolutely perfect & fish are starting to come on the take at last with a couple of double figure fish today. Tides are peaking at 4.2m tomorrow Tuesday. Prospects of sport for the remaining two days should be excellent.

The river is fining off well to good fly order……..

Conditions.

Dry again for the last 24 hours. The forecast remains for dry weather for the 6 days of the season. High pressure builds over Ireland through the weekend & into next week & winds will be predominantly south westerly.

The upper river at Millstreet continues to drop steadily.

The Killavullen gauge is also falling slowly & steadily to 1.42m at 22.00. Clarity ~3-4 feet & peaty.

The Ballyduff gauge is down to 0.53 at 22.30. Clarity 3-4 feet.

Water temperature at Ballyduff: 12.7ºC / 54.9ºF.

Catches.

Just 2 fish today, but some larger fresh fish moving through the lower beats.
The total for September so far is 86 & 454 for the season to date.

Prospects.
The upper river is falling slowly & steadily after this last fresh & should fine off from now until the end of the season next Wednesday as the weather should be dry.

There should be plenty of water to bring in the run of larger autumn fish so the prospects of sport into the weekend should be excellent.

Best Catch of One Beat in a Day for 2015 – 8 fish to 3 rods!

Nine fish in total for the day including two First Ever Salmon.

Conditions.

Dry for the last 24 hours. The forecast is now for dry weather for the last week of the season. High pressure builds over Ireland through the weekend & into next week & winds will be predominantly south westerly.
 
The upper river at Millstreet is dropping quite rapidly since 20.00 yesterday – down 21cm already.

The Killavullen gauge is also falling after peaking at 1.60m at 05.00 this morning. It’s down to 1.46m at 22.00.  Clarity ~2½ feet & peaty.

The Ballyduff gauge peaked at 09.00 this morning at 0.68m. It’s down to 0.60m at 22.00 & peaty.

Water temperature at Ballyduff: 12.7ºC / 54.9ºF.

Catches.

Final total was four fish caught yesterday – two were fresh.
Today saw the Best Catch from One Beat in One day for 2015. Three rods landed & released eight fish on one of our upper beats. One was a First Ever Salmon for Doug Clayton (UK). They saw a very large number of fish moving during the day. The total catch for the day was nine, including another First Ever Salmon of 9lb.for Casey Simons (USA) on fly.
The total for September so far is 84 & 452 for the season to date.

Prospects.
The upper river is falling quickly after this last fresh & should fine off from now until the end of the season next Wednesday as the weather should be dry.

There should be plenty of water to bring in the run of larger autumn fish so the prospects of sport into the weekend should be excellent.

Conditions.

Dry for the last 24 hours. The forecast is now for dry weather for the last week of the season. High pressure builds over Ireland through the weekend & into next week & winds will be predominantly south westerly.
 
The upper river at Millstreet is dropping quite rapidly since 20.00 yesterday – down 20cm already.

The Killavullen gauge is also falling after peaking at 1.60m at 05.00 this morning. It’s down to 1.53m at 11.00. Clarity ~2½ feet & very peaty.
The Ballyduff gauge peaked at 09.00 this morning at 0.68m. It’s down to 0.66m at 12.00 & also very peaty.

Water temperature at Ballyduff: 12.7ºC / 54.9ºF.

Catches.

Final total was three fish caught yesterday – two were fresh.
We have had 47 fish in total for the last 7 days, including the Best Fish of the Season with a 17 pounder on the 18^th. & the Best on Fly with a 14 pounder on the 20^th.
The total for September so far is 74 & 442 for the season to date.

Prospects.
The upper river is falling quickly after this last fresh & should fine off from now until the end of the season next Wednesday as the weather should be dry.

There is plenty of water to bring in the run of larger autumn fish so the prospects of sport into the weekend should be good.

Another 25cm rise on the upper river in the last two days!

Apologies for the lack of reports for the last couple of days but I had no Internet access due to a faulty modem!

Conditions.

Some quite heavy showers yesterday especially in the upper catchment.  The forecast continues mainly dry for the last week of the season.
 

The upper river at Millstreet has been fluctuating but rising 25cm overall for the last 2 days. Clarity was 2 feet on the upper river in the morning & a foot or so by evening.
 

The Killavullen gauge is also fluctuating & is at 1.57m at 22.00 tonight.

The picture is similar at Ballyduff with the river rising slightly this evening to 0.69m at 22.00 with clarity ~3 feet.

Water temperature at Ballyduff: steady at 12.8ºC / 55.1ºF.

Catches.

We have had 46 fish in total for the last 7 days, including the Best Fish of the Season with a 17 pounder on the 18^th. & the Best on Fly with a 14 pounder on the 20^th. Just two fish caught today – but they were fresh.
The total for September so far is 73 & 441 for the season to date.

Prospects.
After this last rather dirty rise the river should fine off from now until the end of the season next Wednesday as the weather should be dry.

There is plenty of water to bring in the run of larger autumn fish so the prospects of sport into the weekend should be good.

Ten Fish caught – Joint Sixth Best day!

Conditions.

Dry since yesterday. The forecast continues dry up to Sunday night. Some light rain for Monday/Tuesday..

The upper river at Millstreet continues to fall steadily. Clarity was 3-4 feet on the upper river by nightfall.

The Killavullen gauge is down to 1.60m at 23.00.

The Ballyduff gauge is down to 0.76m at 23.00 this evening.

The clarity on the lower river was 1½ - 2 feet this evening with a peat stain.

Water temperature at Ballyduff: steady at 12.8ºC / 55.1ºF.

Catches.

Ten fish caught today – the Sixth best day of the Season.

Prospects.
Looking absolutely superb for the last 1½ weeks of the season!

The river is in excellent spinning order & will be fly fishable by tomorrow on the upper river. This flood should bring in the run of larger autumn fish so the prospects of sport into the weekend should be excellent.
