10 cm rise throughout today & more rain coming……

Conditions.
I had 9mm rain on my gauge here on Friday night, another12 mm rain by 22.00 last night & 1mm this morning.
More heavy showers today gave another 6mm in the morning & a band of rain is forecast for tomorrow. The rest of the week looks to be dry.

The upper river at Millstreet rose 10cm & peaked at 15.00 yesterday. It is back down 6cm by 10.00 this morning, but only fell 1cm to 20.00 as ot was topped up by showers during the day.

At Killavullen it also peaked at 15.00 yesterday at 1.30m – up 16cm. It’s down to 1.24m at 10.00 this morning & to 1.20m by 20.00. Clarity 4-5 feet.

The lower river at Ballyduff peaked at 0.36m at 01.00 this morning – up 10 cm. It’s down 1cm at 10.00 but just starting to rise again.  Clarity is about 4-5 feet.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 11.5ºC / 52.7ºF.

Catches.

We have been catching sea-liced grilse every day in spite of the low water, mainly on the lower river.
We now have 13 grilse (7 on fly) for the month to date & 133 now for the season so far.

Prospects.
Superb for the coming days as fish should run in much bigger numbers with the rise in water. The larger double-figure fish that have been waiting in the tidal reaches for water were already starting to move yesterday – several were seen running through the lower river yesterday. The tides were still high yesterday at 3.9m since Thursday & are starting to fall with 3.8m today but should still help to push fish up.
Rather surprisingly, there was no great run of fish during the day today (Sunday), but a good run came through Kilmurry in the early evening.
Prospects of sport in the coming week are brilliant!
Availability.
No problem for rods & accommodation at the moment.
