The number of fish caught for June this year was 88.
This compares to the 10 Year Average of 54 & the Five Year Average of 55.
However, when one considers the angling effort the achievement becomes much more apparent.
2015: 88 fish caught for 179 rod days ie: 0.49 fish per rod day.
2002: 132 fish caught for 796 rod days ie: 0.17 fish per rod day.
So the catch per rod day this year was just about 3 times what it was in 2002!
During the month we have also had Joint Best Fish of 2015:
- 14 pounders for Dan O'Keeffe & Cyril Killeen)
& the Best day's Catch for One Rod
- six fish for Kieran Conlon yesterday - all released on fly.
We also had all of the top six best day's catches.
The fly was the most productive method for the month (& indeed for the season to date).
Let's hope July continues in a similar fashion.
