Lower river has peaked (up a foot) and clearing……

The river peaking at 0.58m at 07.00 today

Conditions.
The recent rains had less effect on the upper river than the lower. There will be a few showers this morning then the forecast is dry up to the weekend.

The upper river at Millstreet peaked at 18.00 up 14cm & is now falling steadily. It’s back down 8cm by 08.30 today.

At Killavullen it peaked at midnight last night up 13cm to 1.43.
It’s down to 1.35m at 08.30. Clarity quite good.

At Fermoy it has peaked at 05.00 this morning up 18cm & is back down 2cm at 08.30.

The lower river at Ballyduff has peaked at 0.58m at 08.00 & is just starting to fall. Clarity is much better than yesterday when the Araglen made the lower river very coloured. Clarity about 2 feet & improving.

Water temperature at Ballyduff: 12ºC / 53.6ºF.

Catches.

Best Fish of Season on Fly weighing 12lb fish released on fly on Kilmurry. Quite fresh – it’s probably one that was waiting in the tidal water for a rise in level to move into the main river. Three extremely fresh grilse from the upper river in the evening.
17 so far for July & 137 for the season.

Prospects.
Superb for the coming days as larger fish look to be starting to run with the rise in water.

Availability.
No problem for rods & accommodation at the moment.
