Second Best day of season – June 21st ……..



          The river today at 12.30 with the Ballyduff gauge on 0.28m.

Conditions.
It was a warm overcast day today.
Some rain coming across the southwest of the catchment tonight
as shown by the radar picture at 21.00.

The upper river at Millstreet & Killavullen is almost steady.
Killavullen gauge was  at 1.17m this evening but rising by 1cm. at midnight.
Clarity on the upper river is 6-7 feet.
 

The lower river at Ballyduff was down to 0.27m this evening, but rising by 1cm at midnight. Clarity is about 6-7 feet.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 10.8ºC / 51.4ºF.

Catches.
Today – June 21 – we recorded the Second Best Day of the Season.

 
Eight fish (five salmon 7-10lb. plus 3 grilse) were caught for just 5 rod days. One 3 rod party landed 5 on our top beat. A good number of fish – both salmon & very fresh grilse - were showing on both the upper & lower beats. 
We now have 41 fish for the month to date, & 73 for the season so far.

For the first week of June (to Sunday 7th.) we caught 19 fish to 12½lb for 55 rod days.
For the second week,  we caught 8 fish to 14lb for just 23 rod days.
For this third week, we caught 14 fish to 10¾lb for 33 rod days.

June 17:  Martin Eastment (UK) - 10.7lb.
June 20:  Louis Cadiou & Jacques Moreau (France) - 9.6 & 10.2 lb.


June 21:  Jacques Moreau & Gerard Bonnet (France) - 8.8, 7.8 & 9.7lb.

Prospects.
Numbers of fish moving has increased considerably in the last few days, especially very fresh grilse which we are catching right up as far as Mallow. Eight were double figure fish & 18 were fish in the 7-10lb. class.


Availability
There is no problem for rods & accommodation at the moment.
