Another band of moderate rain with some heavier showers came through the catchment from the northwest last night.

It’s due to clear up for the rest of today as shown on the radar for 08.30, though with some heavy showers. The forecast is for continuing rather broken weather with a band of heavier rain due early Saturday morning.
Air temperature is +9ºC at 09.30.
The upper river at Millstreet peaked at 17.00 yesterday & was falling until 04.00 this morning. It is now just starting to rise again.
The upper river at Killavullen peaked at 1.88m at 22.00 last night & is currently dropping. Clarity is about 1½ feet.
The lower river at Ballyduff peaked at midnight at 1.03m & is down to 0.95m at 09.30. Clarity is ~1½ feet.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 9.7ºC / 49.8ºF @ 19.00 today.
Water temperature at Killavullen: 10.7 – 9.5 ºC / 51.3 – 49.1ºF.
Prospects.
The upper river is too high for fly today except in a very few spots.
The clarity may dis-improve during the day due to the next rise.
All this high water bodes extremely well for the prospects of sport once the river starts to fine off. The good water levels & tides peaking at 3.7m at Youghal until Friday should encourage even more fresh fish to move in.
The river may come into moderate fly order for tomorrow, & is in reasonable spinning order at the moment.
