A flood will be on the way………………
Conditions.
It was a mild bright day with the air temperature up to 7°C yesterday.
There is a band of heavy rain coming quite quickly across the catchment at the moment which is due to clear early afternoon. I already have 7mm of rain on my gauge by 08.00 this morning. The forecast is then for continuing broken weather through the week – cooler at the beginning then milder from Wednesday.
Spring Tides
Spring tides peaked at 4.2m at Youghal yesterday but will still be 4.1m today.
The upper river at Millstreet peaked at 21.30 last night & is still falling at 07.45 this morning. It will start rising again soon!
The lower river is rising steadily since 05.00 yesterday morning. The clarity was good yesterday afternoon at 3+ feet. It is up to 0.85m at 08.00 today.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 8.2ºC / 46.8ºF @ 08.00.
Water temperature at Killavullen: 5.1ºC / 41.2ºF @ 08.00.
Prospects.
The river is in good spinning order today, but is too high for the fly.
