River in excellent order & springers are coming in !
There were just 3 rods out today.
No fish caught, but some good sport had with kelts up at Ballyhooly
where a fish of about 13/14lb. that may well have been a springer
was lost as well.
Rising air temperatures today produced more activity than yesterday which was very cold.
I know of half a dozen springers that have been caught on the lower river – all very fresh but none sea-liced - which indicates that the fish are only moving very slowly through the lower river.
The lower river is falling slowly but steadily. It was down to 0.66m at 19.15 today 5th. This is the lowest is has been since the end of December!
Good clarity on the lower river at about 4 feet & at least 5 feet on the upper river.
Again a beautiful cold sunny day today with no rain forecast.
Air temperature is +6°C 19.0 this evening, but with little wind.
Staying cold with light Northerly winds all week.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 8.0ºC / 46.4ºF @ 19.00.
Water temperature at Killavullen: 4.3ºC / 39.7ºF @ 19.00.
Prospects
Absolutely excellent for this weekend and into next week as the river is coming down into cracking order
It is down to fly height now & the forecast is continuing dry cold weather into next week. Lovely spinning water too.
