Our First Springer is landed!

Mike Sheridan from Dungarvan landed the first springer of the season on the Lodge fishery
on spinner at the Hut on Lower Kilmurry yesterday - Friday, February 6th.
It weighed  ~9lb. and was very fresh but didn't have any sea-lice.
The spinner came out of the fish when it was netted and it was promptly released.

Weather
High pressure will continue to dominate our weather right up until the end of next week.
There is no rain in the forecast wither up to the end of next week.
Temperatures will stay cool, but barely down to freezing at night well into next week.
Today the air temperature here was
+3°C at 07.30 this morning with no frost and little wind,
+6°C at 19.00 this evening but with a cold easterly wind.

Water Conditions

The lower river continues to fall slowly but steadily.
It is down to 0.59m at 20.00 today 7th.
This is the lowest is has been since the first week of December!
It has excellent clarity both on the lower &
upper river of at least 5 feet .

Water temperature at Ballyduff: 8.2ºC / 46.8ºF @ 20.00.
Water temperature at Killavullen: 5.4ºC / 41.7ºF @ 20.00 tonight & creeping up.

Prospects
Absolutely excellent right through until the end of next week as the river is coming down

into cracking fly order. With springers being caught on the lower river, prospects of sport are very good indeed, especially if day-time air temperatures start to rise a bit.

There is no problem for availability in the coming weeks.
