Last night’s rain had little effect on the river………..

Conditions.
What was looking like heavy rain in the upper catchment didn’t affect the river much at all. Now it’s a bright clear morning with air temperature   +2°C at 08.00 with a cool north-easterly wind.

High pressure will build again over Ireland from until Wednesday when there will be some more rain followed by rather broken weather next weekend.

Surprisingly, the upper river at Millstreet rose just 17cm during the night peaking at 06.00 this morning.

At Killavullen it is up just 4 cm at 08.00 & rising slowly.

The lower river also rose just 4 cm overnight from 0.55m at 23.00 last night to 0.59m this morning.

The clarity on the lower river this morning is 2 - 2½ feet at Ballyduff.

Water temperature at Ballyduff: 8.4ºC / 47.2ºF @ 08.30.
Water temperature at Killavullen: 6.5ºC / 43.7F @ 08.30.

Prospects.
The lower river is in moderate fly order today & good spinning order.
It should improve in the next couple of days.
Very well-mended kelts are still being caught but the second springer is still proving elusive!
