We’re open – but still waiting for the first springer!

Lower river now falling steadily – down to 0.84m at 22.45 today 1st.
Clarity on the lower river is about 3 feet
& it’s about 5 feet on the upper river.

Beautiful cold sunny day today with little rain forecast.
Air temperature is 0°C at 18.00.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 8.3ºC / 46.9ºF @ 23.00.
Water temperature at Killavullen: 4.4ºC / 39.9ºF @ 23.00.

No fresh fish caught on this first day of the season,
but a number of very well-mended kelts to ~15lb. landed (see picture).

Prospects
The river is coming into cracking order & there were a good few flies
in the water today.
Still a little heavy for the fly but it will be down to good fly height
in the next day or so. Lovely spinning water.
