Hopefully the end of the rain for a week or so!



                      The river at 18.00 this evening peaking at 0.82m.

Conditions.
It was a mostly dry but very windy day. The forecast from tomorrow on with just occasional showers for tomorrow & Thursday. High pressure is building from Friday right up to the middle of next week with calm conditions & little wind.
Air temperature was +10 ºC at 18.00.


The upper river at Millstreet peaked yet again at 01.30 this morning – up 25cm. It then fell until mid-day and has risen slightly this evening due to showers in the upper catchment – peaking at 18.00 & now falling again.


The level of the middle river at Killavullen (37km upstream of the Lodge) peaked at 09.00 this morning at 1.77m. & has now fallen to 1.67m at 19.00. Clarity is 2 - 2½ feet.
 


The lower river at Ballyduff peaked at 0.82m at 18.00 & has just started to drop. Clarity then was about 2 - 2½ feet.

Water temperature at    Ballyduff: 8.8ºC / 47.8ºF @ 19.00 today.
Water temperature at Killavullen:  8.0 – 8.7ºC / 46.4 – 47.8ºF @ 19.00.


Prospects.
Excellent right through the coming weekend and into next week as there is now very little rain due and the winds will drop. Both the upper & lower river were spinnable today with moderate clarity of ~2 feet. The upper river should just come down to fly height tomorrow, and the clarity should improve quickly.
The lower river should just about be at fly height for Thursday onwards.


The upper river is rising again this morning!



  The river below the Lodge at 08.10. Gauge height 0.72m & rising slightly.

Conditions.
It was mostly dry overnight across the catchment. The forecast remains rather broken up to Thursday, & then there is high pressure building from Friday right up to the middle of next week with calm conditions & little wind.
Air temperature was +7 ºC at 07.45.


The upper river at Millstreet rose again yesterday evening peaking at 01.30 this morning – up 25cm.


The level of the middle river at Killavullen (37km upstream of the Lodge) was falling until 22.00 last night. It is up 15cm at 07.45 & still rising slowly.
  

The lower river at Ballyduff has levelled at 0.71m at 07.45 but should start to rise. Clarity was only about 1 foot this afternoon.

Water temperature at   Ballyduff: 8.8ºC / 47.8ºF @ 08.00 today.
Water temperature at Killavullen:  8.7 – 8.1ºC / 47.6 – 46.6F @ 08.00


Prospects.
Both the upper & lower river are spinnable today with moderate clarity. Borderline too high for the fly throughout today. At least when we get moderate rises, the clarity improves very quickly.

The upper river is rising again this evening!


Conditions.
It was a rather windy but mostly dry day here. The forecast band of rain fell mostly in the upper catchment this afternoon – only 1mm fell here. The forecast remains rather broken up to Thursday, & then there is high pressure building from Friday right up to the middle of next week with calm conditions & little wind.
Air temperature was +10 ºC at 15.00.


The upper river at Millstreet is now rising once again this evening – up 16cm at 21.00.


The level of the middle river at Killavullen (37km upstream of the Lodge) was falling steadily. It is down to 1.60m at 20.00 but looks to be leveling out. Clarity was only about 1 foot this afternoon.



The lower river at Ballyduff is falling steadily – down to 0.76m by 21.00.  Clarity was only about 1 foot this afternoon.

Water temperature at    Ballyduff: 8.7ºC / 47.8ºF @ 21.00 today.
Water temperature at Killavullen:  8.3 – 8.7ºC / 47.0 – 47.8ºF @ 21.00.


Prospects.
Both the upper & lower river were out of order by early afternoon due to poor clarity. We will see in the morning what the effect of the latest rise upriver will be. At least when we get moderate rises, the clarity improves very quickly.

Moderate conditions for the next couple of days but looking good for Easter weekend!

Conditions.
It was a very windy but mostly dry day here. The forecast is for another band of rain this afternoon,  rather broken up to Thursday, & then there is high pressure building from Friday right up to the middle of next week with calm conditions & little wind. Air temperature was +10 ºC at 15.00.


The upper river at Millstreet is now falling steadily once again.


The level of the middle river at Killavullen (37km upstream of the Lodge) is also falling steadily & is down to 1.71m at 09.15 today.


The lower river at Ballyduff peaked at 03.00 this morning - up 50cm to 1.09m. It is already back to 0.95m by 09.30.  Clarity is ~2-2½ feet.


Water temperature at    Ballyduff: 8.7ºC / 47.8ºF @ 09.30 today.
Water temperature at Killavullen:  9.8 – 8.4ºC / 49.6 – 47.1F @ 09.00.

Prospects.
The upper river is barely fly-fishable today & the lower river is too high.
It should be good for spinning throughout today as the clarity is quite good.
At least when we get moderate rises, the clarity improves very quickly.

Catches.
A good fish of 12-15lb. was lost on the Green Bank on Upper Kilmurry yesterday afternoon by one of the very few rods who ventured out.
