Best day so far for 2015 with two springers caught!

A very fresh 7 lb. (which had been in a few days & had no sea-lice)
for David Jackson from Kents.
A 5.3lb. for Lawrence Fitzpatrick from Lower Kilmurry
(with short-tailed sea-lice which had only been in the river 24 hrs).

Sea-lice on the head of Lawrence's fish.
Both were taken on spinner on lower river.

Recent high water has brought fish in!

The river below the Lodge at 08.00 today. Gauge height 0.97m.

Conditions.
Some heavy showers in the upper catchment today & a band of rain went through last night. It was an overcast day with air temperature down to 5ºC at 18.00. Continuing cold & showery (some heavy) for Monday & Tuesday, then becoming milder & drier for Wednesday through Friday.

This was the upper river at 18.00am this evening.
Last night’s rain & further showers gave a 37cm rise
which peaked at 16.30 this afternoon.

This was the lower river at 18.00 this evening – gauge at 0.99m.

It has been falling steadily since midnight Thursday but is just
starting to rise again from 16.30. Clarity close to 3 feet.

Water temperature at    Ballyduff: 8.2ºC / 46.8ºF @ 18.00.

Water temperature at Killavullen: 6.8ºC / 44.2ºF @ 18.00.

Prospects.
Looking excellent for the coming week as there were two fish caught today.  The river will still be too high for fly tomorrow (Monday).
It is in perfect spinning order.
It will depend on the latest rise coming down and any more rain
as to whether  it will be in fly order in the next couple of days.
