18mm rain overnight & the river is rising!

Conditions.

It’s a wild mild day here today.
Very wet & windy with air temperature +11ºC at 09.30.

The band of rain shown on the radar picture was at 07.00 when it was
coming in quickly from the southwest & moving down the catchment.

I Have 18mm rain on my gauge here this morning,
but as I write I can see the sky clearing from the west.

By 10.30 it has more or less exited the catchment to the east
& it will be a bright afternoon.
The forecast is still for some more rain tomorrow (Thursday) evening .
High pressure then builds over Ireland & it should be dry from Friday
right through until next Wednesday, when the Magic Seaweed forecast
is predicting a depression & rainfall across Ireland.

The upper river at Millstreet (80km upstream of the Lodge)
is rising rapidly since 05.00 this morning & is up over 30cm by 09.30.

The middle river at Killavullen (37km upstream of the Lodge)
is starting to rise since 08.00.

The lower river at Ballyduff is just starting to rise since 09.00
when it was 0.80m.

Water temperature at    Ballyduff: 8.4ºC / 47.2ºF @ 10.00.

Water temperature at Killavullen: 7.3ºC / 45.2ºF @ 10.00.

Prospects.
Not a morning to be out on the river today – wild & wet.
My evening report will tell much more on the effect of this morning's rain. It looks as if the river will be in flood & out of order for tomorrow!
