Conditions perfect but fishing slow!



                     The river this morning at 10.40.  Gauge:  0.60m

Conditions.

It’s a beautiful bright sunny calm day here today  Air temperature  only +3ºC at 09.00 but already warming up considerably..
The forecast continues to be for high pressure over Ireland. It should be dry from this evening right through until Thursday/Friday  of next week with some cool nights.

 
The level of the middle river at Killavullen (37km upstream of the Lodge) has only fallen 3cm in the last 24 hours but is now at a superb height. It is down to 1.44m at 09.00 today. This is the lowest ot has been since February 19th.  Clarity is about 5-6 feet.


The lower river at Ballyduff is also falling slowly (5cm in the last 24 hours)& is down to 0.60m at 09.00 today.
This is the lowest it has been since February 13th.Clarity is ~5-6 feet.

Water temperature at    Ballyduff: 8.3ºC / 47.0ºF @ 10.00 today.

Water temperature at Killavullen:  9.2 – 7.9ºC / 48.6 -46.2ºF @ 10.00.

High Tides
The last of the spring tides peaks today at 4.1m in Youghal.


Prospects.
The river was in absolutely excellent order for both fly & spinning throughout today.
With the dry weather continuing, the river will continue to improve steadily, and the next few days look very promising indeed! The river is fining down to superb order.
There were not many fish moving last week, but there are more running through this week.
