Upper river is up over 30cm & rising.……

Conditions.

A narrow band of quite heavy rain passed quickly down across the catchment from the northwest in the early hours of the morning.
It's a beautiful mild sunny day at 09.00 with little wind.
Air temperature +8 ºC at 07.00. Forecast still has some lighter rain for Monday morning & Wednesday night. High tides are peaking at 3.8m in Youghal on Sunday & Monday.

The upper river at Millstreet is up 32cm by 08.45 & is still rising.

This was the upper river at Killavullen had levelled out at 1.64m at 07.30 but is up 2cm at 08.30. Still heavy, but better fly order than downriver.

This was the lower river at 07.30 this morning – gauge at 0.81m Clarity about 2½-3 feet.

Water temperature at    Ballyduff: 8.3ºC / 47.0ºF @ 21.00.

Water temperature at Killavullen: 8.6ºC / 46.8ºF @ 21.00.
This is the first time the upper river has been warmer than the lower river.

Prospects.
The river is in excellent spinnable order this morning but conditions will degrade as the day goes on due to the small flood on the way. It is now coming to fair fly order on the upper river as the height at Killavullen is at 1.64m. The lower river is still too high for fly-fishing.
