Levels are falling – Hopes are rising…..…………………………
Conditions.
A bright, milder day today. Very little rain anywhere in the catchment.
Air temperature +9 ºC at 15.00. No rain forecast until perhaps some light rain from Sunday to Tuesday & then dry again (if we can believe it!).
This was the upper river at 22.00 this evening.
The level has fallen & then stabilised.
This was the lower river at 22.00 this evening – gauge at 1.22 & falling.
Clarity only about 1 - 1½ feet on both the lower & upper river.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 8.0ºC / 46.4ºF @ 22.00.
Water temperature at Killavullen: 5.5ºC / 41.9ºF @ 22.00.
Prospects.
It was barely spinnable on the lower & upper river today as the clarity was rather poor throughout. Hopefully there will be an improvement tomorrow.
Once that fines off it’s looking excellent right through to the weekend & probably well into next week – depending on any rain from Sunday.
With the reports of fresh fish seen and met right up as far as 15 miles upstream of Mallow, it looks as if there is a good head of spring fish
in the system.
The river will be too high for fly tomorrow (Thursday).
It may well be in some sort of fly order by the weekend.
