River falling slowly but with good clarity.…………………………
Conditions.
An overcast mild day today. No rain anywhere in the catchment.
Air temperature +10 ºC at 17.00. Forecast still has some bands of rain coming in from the southwest on Sunday, Monday & Thursday.
This was the upper river at Millstreet at 19.30 this evening. It is falling slowly. Clarity about 3-3½ feet.
This was the lower river at 19.00 this evening – gauge at 1.06m & just beginning to drop a bit faster. Clarity about 3½-4 feet.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 8.1ºC / 46.6ºF @ 19.00.
Water temperature at Killavullen: 6.9ºC / 44.4ºF @ 19.00 & still climbing quickly.
Prospects.
The river was in good spinnable order today on the lower river today& should continue to improve. Certainly not in fly order yet as the height at Killavullen is 1.90m at 19.00. It’s likely that the upper river will be down to some sort of fly order for the weekend, but too soon to say yet if it will be fly-fishable on the lower river.
