River down overnight and temperatures are rising.…………………………
The Cork Blackwater river below Blackwater Lodge at 08.30 today
with the gauge holding at 1.12m.
Conditions.
An overcast mild day today. No overnight rain anywhere in the catchment.
Air temperature +8 ºC at 08.00. Forecast now has some bands of rain
coming in from the southwest from Sunday on.
This was the upper river at 08.00 this morning.
There was a slight blip around midnight & now it is falling.
This was the lower river at 09.00 this morning – gauge at 1.12
& holding as the blip has arrived! Clarity about 2 feet.
Water temperature at Ballyduff: 8.1ºC / 46.6ºF @ 09.00.
Water temperature at Killavullen: 6.2ºC / 43.2ºF @ 09.00 & climbing.
Prospects.
It is quite spinnable on the lower river today& should continue to improve. Certainly not in fly order yet as the height at Killavullen is 2 metres. It’s likely that the upper river will be down to some sort of fly order for the weekend,
but too soon to say yet if it will be fly-fishable on the lower river.
